Who's socks are the "worst:" Mel, or Aisans, or are there worse socks out there I have yet to experience? - David Jirik

Congratulations on being our first ever question on MELIPEDIA, and an excellent question indeed.

MELIPEDIA recognizes the two very distinct smells emitted from each of the girls socks, and can in no way determine which sock displays a worse smell. While both socks have accumulated grunge and dirt from the rugby field, Mel's socks have a more rotten/moldy smell, while Aisan's give off the equally disenchanting smell of sweat and mildew. A hierarchy of smell cannot be detected between the two, as they display dissimilar yet equally abhorring smells of pungency.

The notion of there being worse socks out there is valid. While MELIPEDIA has yet to come across data solidifying this claim, it is suggested that those who hike the Sahara desert for months at a time emit foot odor that is unfathomable within the Western world.

Loafting - dismantling myths

Loafting: to waste time unproductively

Commonly mistaken for "loafing" loafting is "loafing" to a 'T' (hence the T). People who loaft do so habitually, and with great skill. They deviate from the task at hand, with precise allotments of time with which to be unproductive as they please. Most loafters are unproductive in a somewhat productive manner: eating, socializing and discuss relevant matters at hand with those around them while keeping in mind the strict timelines associated with the deviation.

Another matter at hand is the problematic use of the word "loaf." MELIPEDIA recognizes that we are not loaf's of bread, and as such should not be regarded thus simply because we loaft.

Used in a sentence: Melissa and Urszula were loafting instead of doing their homework.

"Shooting a cow at point blank" - defined

To "shoot a cow at point blank" is in reference to the easy ability to achieve a goal. When considering shooting a cow at point blank, you may think "how absurd" however, consider the size and speed of a cow. The large mass and slow velocity of a cow would decrease the cows ability to escape from this scenario. And as such, when we consider their large size and inability to escape the situation, we conclude that shooting a cow at point blank would in fact be very easy.

Similar sayings, such as "shooting a fish in a barrel" have similar connotations. However, one must consider the varying interpretations of "fish in barrels." One may see a pile of large flopping fish stacked atop one another; or the latter may see a few gold fish scurrying about amongst a barrel of water. To me, these agile goldfish, would quite easily escape the bullet in the barrel, and therefor the saying "easy as shooting a fish in a barrel" would not be valid.
